Son Kapital take their time, rehearse, leave, write, improvise, record, forget the recordings, make new ones.
In autumn 2016, they released their second CD "Raus In Die Stadt". There you can hear reggae and punk and chanson, a bit of ska and a lot of accordion.
Son Kapital was born in the summer of 2010 from the Berlin band "Marycones", which had been an integral part of the capital's ska, reggae and world music scene for years. After 2 albums and extensive travels through Germany, up to Paris, Denmark and Austria, the 4 musicians decided to form a new band that would expand their musical world without forgetting the Marycones' roots in the punk and ska clubs of Berlin.
The result was Son Kapital's first CD, which was presented live at Berlin's Lido in December 2010 and released by Flowfish Music/Broken Silence in March 2011. Here you can find influences from Latin, Balkan, musette as well as dancehall, ska and punk rock - Tom Waits jams with Manu Chao on the streets of Barcelona, while Edith Piaf sings about love with Mahala Rai Banda.
Yes - the concerts are beautiful! Dancing, singing along, clapping, standing next to them, drinking beer or soda, meeting friends, sweating, feeling safe, somehow going home stronger.
